[sexygeeky]
So Kumoricon was crazy fun as always but now that I am a dealer and panelist the con was so very different.  I am going to be up loading some pics of the con but most of my photos will be up on http://sexygeeky.net and kumoricon as I was their photographer this year.  I am still so happy and excited about that.

Did any one else go to Kumoricon??

Mr. Masterson's eye was gouged...he needs help... [Aug. 29th, 2008|12:34 pm]

portlandgothic

[ladyraven13]
This is a repost from Jason & Bekka.............

We need your help.

Our family cat "Bats Masterson" sustained an injury. We're not sure if he was hit by a car or if someone hit him with an object. Our 2 year old little boy just walked in the door in the morning and fell over with an injury to his head. We're in a negative financial situation as my job relates to the housing market and we've been trying to lay low for the past few weeks to get through this. This expense has hit hard, unexpectedly and at a bad time. We have him at the Vet now with our own funds and some donated by the local Concern for Animals. We've been told he has the opportunity to pull through this. The vet has just called and notified us that his eye needs to be removed and that it will cost an additional $225.

We've had a myspace for Batty for sometime.

As for his injury there is a picture here caution animal lovers, it's rather difficult to look at)

Tonight is the 4th anniversary of our club night "Dementia" It is and always will be a benefit to our local animal shelters. Tonight you will also have an opportunity to help directly, the loved pet of some long time Dementia friends. At the door, you'll have an opportunity to pledge up to half your cover towards Batty's cause. Simply let the door person know if you wish to participate. Whatever your choice, tonight is about extending our hands together, and helping animals in need.
We look forward to seeing you all out tonight to celebrate 4 full years of Dementia!

Alternately you may donate via paypal at eidsvik@gmail. com.
(note: all donations exceeding the amount needed will be donated back to the general fund for our local animal shelters)

If you decided to donate please leave "get well soon" message on Batty's page so we can personally thank you.
A sincere and genuine thank you to all friends lending a hand.

Jason and Bekka (missionary)

info on FREEZEPOP:
Freezepop has always been something of an oxymoron: embraced by both hipsters and nerds; serious about irony; and retro-futuristic. A synth band in a guitar videogame, singing pop songs about rock. And it all somehow makes sense when you listen to the music.

Formed in Boston in the summer of 1999, Freezepop is comprised of Liz Enthusiasm (vocalist/designer), the Duke of Pannekoeken (producer/vocalist/programmer), and Sean Drinkwater (synthesizers/programmer/vocalist). Within eight months, Freezepop had released two homemade EPs and started a DIY machine that would become one of their trademarks. Their debut album, 2000’s Freezepop Forever, was released domestically on their own label, Archenemy, as well as licensed in Europe by the Spanish indiepop label Elefant.

Several more EPs followed, and in 2004, Freezepop released their sophomore album, Fancy Ultra•Fresh. After nearly eight years of self-releasing their CDs, they partnered with Rykodisc/Cordless Recordings for their most recent album, Future Future Future Perfect. Their single “Less Talk More Rokk” was the iTunes #4 dance/electronic song of 2007, and the band recently swept the Boston Phoenix/WFNX Best Music Poll 2008, winning the local categories of Best Band, Best Live Act, and Best Album.

While the band has done well on college radio, repeat-charting in the CMJ Top 50, a key factor in Freezepop’s success has been that they have sought out licensing opportunities as an alternate means of getting their music out into the world. A natural fit on videogame soundtracks, the band saw their following grow through songs in the cult music-based games Frequency and Amplitude, and then increase exponentially after appearing in the massively popular Guitar Hero series, Dance Dance Revolution, and the new MTV Games release Rock Band. Freezepop’s songs are also featured in television shows as diverse as Showtime’s drama The L Word, and the PBS children’s series Arthur.

Freezepop have a strong connection with their fans and have toured extensively, playing energetic, fun, and chaotic shows throughout North America and Europe. The band has used the internet to reach out to new listeners and stay in touch with the diverse ranks of old-schoolers. Freezepop.com features enough content to keep visitors entertained for hours; the band’s MySpace page is still maintained by the band members themselves, and has racked up over 60,000 friends and more than four million plays.
